Blog #2 Zuming Zhang
This
second presentation was one of the most interesting one as it was the one
filled with the most issues for me. As the overall planning and preparation for
my portion of the PowerPoint wasn’t too bad. As me being a sucker for history
and how things piece together was the perfect choice for the electoral college
history. Overall, the process of the transitions and learning my own lines and
stuff of that sort just came with the job. Despite the clear planning and
process for everyone that got their jobs and roles there was a bit of issues
here and there. From confusion towards the process and over addition of words
and text of the slides it all has a lot of headaches. Although most of the
group did quite well and I don’t have too many issues with them and only hope
they really memorize their lines for the future. This presentation has helped
quite a lot out in my own personal life and speaking is a vital part of life.
As a EMT having a better ability to speak to my patients allows me to perform
my tasks better than the rest. With Chris and Ivanna’s portion of the
presentation they were very on point with that the had to do. Chris had a one
slide concise of all of his information that he was going to go over further on
in the future. While Ivanna has great pictures and information to share that
was quite insightful. While David and his partner has quite a lot of info on
their voting system of other countries which was quite insightful as the other
members of the group.
Furthermore,
with other groups such as group 2 there was a great understanding of their own
presentation that I hadn’t never known to this point. As certain government
programs that allow people to come to the states without any other costs. The
overall presentation of it has gotten better but same as before with the
clutters still being there as too much visual noise. But the speakers
themselves did go over the information quite well and I was captivated by their
topic and information quite well. The only huge problem I really had was the
skipping of speaker as during the presentation there would be moments in which
the speakers would get skipped over and people would go on for a while until
the next speakers. The information is quite useful but does skips over the
general people or people like me who didn’t live with programs like DACA which
almost everyone in the classroom knew about and didn’t explain it in further
detail until asked. A very slight mis step, but when explaining and wanting the
classroom to want to truly understand to truly understand your presentation it
really makes others lost. Overall, most of the speakers spoke with a clear
voice and understanding of their topic, but at times had moments where a bit
more explanations would be very useful for others, which is something to
remember and use on my group’s presentations.
Next up
is group 3 which overall had the best presentation in the class as most of the
speakers really had the knowledge on their subject and the enthusiasm needed to
display and convey that information towards the classroom. The slides were
quick and concise without much visual noise and had at least me listening
throughout the presentation and remembering most of the information. And the
subject of the Say no Gay law in Florida was brought up with a lot of class and
sensitivity towards the subject. The information and nuance of every
information brought up in the PowerPoint was very different than one would
expect and goes over a lot of very good information. Also bonus points being
their brochure which I haven’t brought up in this blog, but it was very pretty
and had the information in a neat format which allows the listeners to follow
along with a visual guide, but also allows them to od further research on the
subject in their own time as the brochure has the main words and stuff laid
out. Overall, one of the best presentations by far.
Lastly,
is the group 4. This group had by far the most speaker and they all have a good
understanding of their stuff. But it does have a bit too much information on
screen that doesn’t really help for audiences’ retention. Despite that slight
con most of them had a great concentration and remember their subject and the
addition of an interview was interesting. As just merely by just asking the
person they are interviewing their questions allowed for more understanding.
Just as the audience hears the interview, they can hear answers to questions
they might have and also possible different perspective from people from
different regions of the world and background. The information going over the
female rights and voting rights was well researched and had given a new
perspective besides the usual woman’s suffrage. The new information has really
allowed me to look from a new perspective and learn more about history and
advancements towards equal rights for the opposite gender. The speaker has
really given me a new view on this very important subject and was helped by the
speakers clear and fluent speech during the presentation going over their
subject with very great efficiency.
Overall
final thoughts are that this presentation has gotten a lot easier in terms of
myself. As the research portion of the presentation is greatly easier as I have
gotten more and more information with more reliable websites. What’s more the
actual presenting portion of the presentation is a bit better I would feel
despite my slight tired tone I feel that helped my flow and confidence in the
presentation. I would like to have a bit more energy towards having such a
presentation though despite the low energy being better for presentation as it
doesn’t have the Zhang touch.
Excellent blog post!
